Manage bandwidth and expand capacity of existing fiber optic backbones through Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) that simultaneously combines and transmits multiple signals at different wavelengths in the same fiber. A key advantage of WDM is that it is both protocol and bit-rate independent. WDM-based networks can transmit data in IP, ATM, SONET/SDH, and Ethernet, and handle bit rates between 100 Mb/s and 40 Gb/s. Therefore, WDM-based networks can carry different types of traffic at different speeds over an optical channel. It creates a less costly method of quick response to customers’ bandwidth demands and protocol changes. Rayzer provides a wide selection of thin-film filter, planer-waveguide, and fuse-based WDM products to meet various channel count and spacing requirements.
